PURPOSE OF POSITION: To presort merchandise for stores. To manage the daily transportation of used goods, new goods, salvage and trash. Organize the storage of donations as necessary. To fulfill mission statement.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Retail Trainer, District Manager, and Vice President of Retail Operations. Refers questions involving deviation from established policies and procedures to Retail Trainer and District Manager.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with individuals who have disabilities and or barriers to employment and participate in the achievement of their goals. Demonstrate a positive, role model. Display commitment and involvement towards Goodwill's mission.
JOB PROFICIENCIES: Sorts through donations which may include household items, games toys, Holiday items, wares and other miscellaneous donations. Hang clothing and tags textiles. Price items and follow procedures for identified salvage.
JOB COMPETENCIES: Teamwork, Oral Communications, Customer Service, Product knowledge, Quality, Ethics and Trust, Quality, Fashion Sense, Safety and Security.
As a member of the management staff, sets an example for his or her workers. Personal conduct must reflect the high standards of integrity expected of all Goodwill staff personnel. Is expected to exercise good judgement in handling the wide variety of day-to-day operational problems which arise continuously in store operation. Must be thoroughly familiar and continually stress the Goodwill sales philosophy. Performs those duties which are part of every day supervisory job. In addition, is responsible for and either does or supervises the following:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promotes special events.
- Receives and checks incoming stock and supervises checkouts and stock transfers. Checks condition and placement of stock in a clean, neat, and orderly condition. Must make sure merchandise is being marked to Goodwill standards from the processing warehouse area
- Sort through donations and place into categories.
- Hang clothing and textiles on rack and tag, if needed, quantity and gender, date.
- Price merchandise to Goodwill’s pricing guidelines.
- Salvage unusable donation and label as such “salvage”
- Must meet daily quota’s
- Maintain records of store operations as required for store production
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to all safety policies and reports violations.
- Adheres to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records.
- Support mission statement and activities of other departments.
- Support the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to person with disabilities and barriers to employment.
- Work schedules are based on the space available to work and the employee calling in to work.
- Provide support for helpers
- Attend meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE/QUALITY STANDARDS:
- Attendance and punctuality.
- The cleanliness, neatness, and orderliness of his/hers store premises
- Quality and quantity of work performed.
- Attitude and overall effectiveness of working relations with all stakeholders.
- The manner in which duties and responsibilities, essential functions and job competencies are performed.
- Supports and values diversity.
- The manner in which he/she meets or exceeds Production goals.
- The manner in which he/she manages the receipt, transfer, and shipment of material-to include coordination and cooperation.
- The manner in which he/she reflects the high standards of morals and integrity expected of all Goodwill staff personnel.
- His/her effectiveness in meeting deadlines and his/her response to special requirements and the expressed desire of management.
- The extent to which the store meets or exceeds accreditation standards as approved or endorsed by Goodwill Industries of America.
- Must meet store evaluation standards every day as set forth by Goodwill Industries.
