Summary

This position is responsible for a variety of complex, high-level software engineering operations within a technology development team. Uses advanced knowledge of software engineering discipline, processes, and tools to complete and ensure compliance of various project subtasks. Interacts with internal and external customers to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications. Will develop and define engineering processes. Mentors lower-level Engineers. Recognized as a subject matter expert in the field of Software Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

· Performs requirements gathering, application & architecture design, implementation, develop, coding, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, and providing support throughout the application development process.

 

· Regularly offers solutions to significant technical problems.

 

· Applies expertise in software engineering principles, technologies, methods, tools, and processes, to eliminate barriers to successful project completion.

 

· Interacts with customers in all phases of software development.

 

· Analyzes existing information systems and applications to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements

 

· Participates in the evaluation and selection process for new application packages, as needed.

 

· Defines development guidelines and standards to be utilized in software development /integration including developing custom integration solutions with major enhancements, interfaces, functions, and features.

 

· Generates and may approve software documentation and performs requirements-based verification and validation testing of software to assure all requirements are met.

 

Additional Qualifications 

· Proficiency with Python, JavaScript / NodeJS, C++, MongoDB.

 

· Experience in Gitlab, CI/CD, Dev Ops and software deployment automation

 

· Expertise in developing full-stack software architecture to meet current and future needs of the organization

 

· Experience collaborating across functional groups to contribute to complex technical projects with latitude for independent action and decision making

 

· Experience with internally developed applications outside of cloud-enabled software platforms or on non-networked systems (on-premises deployments)

 

· Experience communicating project updates, accomplishments, schedule and risk to senior technical leaders

 

· Ability to provide technical guidance, mentoring, consultative services, and innovative solutions.

 

You Must Have
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other equivalent ABET accredited Engineering program. 
  • 6+ years of experience 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time  
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business 
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job 
  • United States Citizenship 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations) 
We Value

· Experience with machine control, kinematics, and/or automation in support of Industry 4.0 transformation

 

· Experience with embedded software engineering and hardware integration

 

· Experience working with cloud storage platforms and big data solutions

 

· Experience collaborating within a manufacturing environment with value having worked with quality and/or metrology organizations

 

· Experience with software documentation standards (UML, User Stories, etc.)

 

· Passion for cutting edge software solutions as demonstrated through personal projects and related hobbies (home lab)

 

· Experience with networking, certificates and authentication, server administration (Windows particularly)

 

· Persistence to maintain motivation and communication when managing long term tasks in a structured, hierarchical organization

 

· Six Sigma certification preferred.

 

· Active Q-Clearance Preferred
