Job Description
Job Summary: Sets up and operates machinery to shear, roll, mill and drill metals and structural shapes as specified by work orders, blueprints, drawings, or layouts. Performs other metal fabrication utilizing various hand tools such as routers and sanders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up tooling on machines and secures parts using various clamps.
- Operates drill press, band saw, NC and covential mills, shear, roll and brake machinery to bend, form, or cut metals.
- Measures work piece and verifies dimensions and weight, using micrometer, template, straightedge, and scale.
- Inspects work pieces for defects.
- Lifts, positions, and secures tooling on machinery.
- Grinds out burrs and sharp edges, using portable grinder.
- Hand forms, cuts, or finishes work pieces using proper tools.
- Record job information in ERP system.
- Properly documents travelers.
- Maintains clean work area, tools and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
