PFM I Duties: Assists with summer nature programs & special environmental events. · Performs manual labor in the maintenance of Lakewood Discovery Center structures & grounds. · Maintains trails including grounds maintenance. · Plants & maintains learning gardens & prairie areas including seeding, watering, aerification, top dressing, planting flowers, weed removal, painting, fence repair, dirt work & related duties.  · Performs improvements to wildlife/fisheries habitats. · Conducts wildlife surveys. · Stocks fish. · Provides custodial services including cleaning restrooms & trash removal. · Administers basic first aid, if needed. · Responds in emergency situations within scope of training.

PFM II Additional Duties: Leads summer nature programs & special environmental events. · Supervises the Park & Facility Maintenance I staff in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor. · Responsible to fulfill the duties of the Park & Facility Maintenance I staff, as needed.

PFM III Additional Duties: Assists Recreation Supervisor in developing & leading programs & special environmental events. · Responsible for supervising the maintenance & upkeep of Lakewood Discovery Center structures & grounds. · Oversees daily operations including supervision of any seasonal maintenance crews assigned to the site. · Supervises the Park & Facility Maintenance I & II staff in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor. · Responsible to fulfill the duties of the Park & Facility Maintenance I & II staff, as needed.

Education: Eighth grade graduate. · CPR & First Aid certifications desired.

PFM I Experience: Work experience in general manual labor or landscape maintenance or related work. · Ability to perform work using handheld non-powered tools utilized in landscape maintenance & repair work.

PFM II Additional Experience: Employed for one (1) year in Park & Facility Maintenance I position or demonstrated experience and/or skills to advance to Park & Facility Maintenance II position. · Two (2) years’ work experience in general building & facility maintenance and/or landscape maintenance. · Supervisory experience preferred. · Grounds maintenance & equipment operation experience desired, minor construction, maintenance work, mowing, & tree care. · Ability to perform intermediate to advanced work using equipment & tools utilized in parks & facilities maintenance, landscape maintenance, & repair work.

PFM III Additional Experience: Employed for one (1) year in Park & Facility Maintenance II position or demonstrated experience and/or skills to advance to Park & Facility Maintenance III position. · Three (3) years' work experience in general building & facility maintenance and/or landscape maintenance. · Supervisory experience required. · Grounds maintenance & equipment operation experience required, minor construction, maintenance work, mowing, & tree care. · Ability to perform advanced work using equipment & tools utilized in parks & facilities maintenance, landscape maintenance, & repair work.

Requirements: Sixteen (16) year olds will work in a non-driving capacity. · Seventeen (17) year olds and older must possess a valid driver's license to operate utility vehicles & golf carts on city property & non-public access passageways. · Must have reliable transportation to-and-from work. · Must be available to work shifts. · Must be able to lift 10-40 pounds frequently.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays (i.e. Memorial Weekend, Fourth of July, Labor Day Weekend) & special events (i.e. Smoky Hill River Festival, private parties).

Pay DOQ EOE: I: $12.73-14.73/hr.; II: $14.04-16.04/hr.; III: $15.48-17.48/hr.
