Kiewit Engineering Group Inc, has a position in Lenexa, KS.
Mechanical Engineer III - DUTIES: Perform calculations for mechanical equipment sizing and selection load calculations, producing design documents, ductwork and pipe routing and sizing. Review RFP documents, study and interpret codes per project requirements, direct a team to design mechanical systems per project requirements, coordinate with bidders and other disciplines within Kiewit to create accurate price estimates. Write Mechanical system narratives for estimating and project proposals. Create construction documents, drawings and specifications for building related mechanical systems. Execute work in a team environment, coordinating with multiple design disciplines. Support the construction process by responding to RFI’s during construction, reviewing and approving shop drawings, and supporting project completion and turn-over. Participate in site visits to ensure construction documents were executed accurately and creating punch lists. Build standards and templates which are used in future projects and for training purposes. Assign work to project teams and performing quality checks on the deliverables, to ensure their conformance with the contract and project requirements. Mentor/train interns and young engineers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 4 years of experience stated herein to involve: (1) using Revit 3D modeling software, Building Thermal Modeling software such as IESVE, Trane Trace, or Carrier HAP, Inter-disciplinary 3-D model coordination including Clash detection, duct and pipe routing/sizing, and equipment modeling and positioning; (2) construction markup tools including Bluebeam and interpreting construction drawings; (3) support the construction process by responding to RFI’s during construction, reviewing and approving shop drawings, and supporting project completion and turn-over; (4) air side equipment including fan and air handling unit sizing and selection, as well as ductwork routing; (5) HVAC design including any of the following: ductwork sizing, chilled water, controls, dehumidification, natural gas piping sizing, hydronic heating water, and steam heating; and (6) plumbing design, understanding and implementing plumbing code, selecting and sizing plumbing fixtures, and routing and sizing plumbing systems.
