Job Description
The Manufacturing Specialist monitors and controls production kettles that are used to produce industrial grease. They are responsible for handling and managing chemical raw materials correctly to manufacture finished products according to defined formulations and procedures. Specific handling activities include, but are not limited to, moving raw materials from a receiving warehouse to the manufacturing floor, and then staging and pre-weighing materials in preparation for scheduled production orders. Personnel must be technology savvy as process controls are managed via a computerized control system. Specialists are also responsible for properly managing and recording inventory transactions. The manufacturing environment involves high heat and pressure, as well as limited exposure to hazardous chemicals; therefore, a focus on safety is critical. Manufacturing Specialists are required to manually move raw materials in bags and drums, as well as utilize material handling devices. Operation of a forklift may be required.
Essential Functions:
1. Manage raw materials from receiving through the manufacturing process.
2. Stage raw material chemicals, including pre-weighing, to support production orders
3. Strictly follow manufacturing processes and formulations to ensure product consistency.
4. Measure and add raw materials in accordance with defined procedures.
5. Operate proper warm-up and shut-down of manufacturing equipment.
6. Flush and clean kettles and lines according to defined work instructions.
7. Monitor process equipment to ensure proper control.
8. Properly record inventory transactions.
9. Perform in-process testing and understand results.
10. Notify manager of any mechanical or material issues.
11. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
12. Working understanding of chemical SDS information, raw material hazards, and appropriate safety protocols.
