Job Description
Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of an HR specialist is to manage and support the organization's workforce by
overseeing various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training, employee relations, and
compensation/benefits.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Experience in human resources or education
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
● Post vacancies and assist with promotion of available positions
● Attend job fairs and recruiting events
● Make job offers and initiate onboarding paperwork
● Compile and maintain complete new hire files including payroll information, I9s, and
background checks
● Conduct new hire orientation sessions to educate employees on district systems, policies,
procedures, and technology
● Communicate with hiring managers regarding start dates and status of candidates
● Coordinate the flow of information for all personnel changes between departments/schools
and payroll/HR
● Tracking HR metrics, analyzing trends, and preparing reports
● Process employment verifications and unemployment claims
● Stay up-to-date on labor laws and regulations Board of Education policies and ensuring the
organization’s compliance
● Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state, and federal
laws
● Assist with other duties necessary for the efficient functioning of the department and district

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
The job typically involves extensive computer work. Occasional travel is also required. Due to the
varied tasks, a growth mindset is essential. Mental demands include managing frequent
interruptions, maintaining emotional composure during stressful situations, problem-solving,
decision-making, and interpreting data.
Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board
of Education policies and regulations.
Clearances: Background check and current TB test
