Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Electrician to join our Projects Division. This role will focus primarily on electrical work within the construction trades, requiring expertise in troubleshooting and performing a variety of crafts or trades independently. The ideal candidate will possess specialized knowledge and experience, with the ability to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Job Description:
Job Duties
- Interpret diagrams, job specifications, and blueprints.
- Lay out, install, and repair wiring and electrical fixtures.
- Install electrical systems and equipment, including distribution equipment, branch circuit equipment, lighting, signs, fire alarms, indicators, and machinery tie-ins.
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Plan new or modified installations to minimize material waste, ensure maintenance access, and comply with electrical codes and job specifications.
- Provide daily progress reports to the supervisor, including completion status, challenges, and remedial actions.
- Record daily work hours.
- Connect cables to equipment and install grounding leads.
- Test circuit continuity to confirm electrical compatibility and component safety.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install conduit; pull wiring through conduits.
- Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Monitor equipment and electrical systems for hazards or the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Preview, order, and obtain electrical materials and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Operate vehicles to transport self and materials to job sites.
- Participate in meetings with Facilities Services and Design Construction Management.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects.

Required Qualifications
Education: Technical or trade degree. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Work Experience:
- Experience working with voltage ranges from 24 to 600 volts.
- Experience grasping, holding, lifting, and manipulating a variety of hand and power tools.
Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver's license at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification: OSHA 10 or 30 certification
Work Experience:
- Experience with Fire Alarm Systems.
- Experience using Workday, Teams, and Outlook.
- Experience working in a college or university setting.

Comprehensive Benefits Package:

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
