Job Description Summary:
The Clinical Research Training Manager is responsible for designing, executing, supervising, and evaluating training programs for clinical research staff. This role ensures that staff possess the essential clinical skills and knowledge to conduct research ethically, efficiently, and in accordance with regulations, scope of practice, and state statutes. Additionally, the Clinical Research Manager collaborates with multidisciplinary research teams and hospital staff to develop training materials that facilitate efforts for the integration of clinical research workforce between the University of Kansas (University) and The University of Kansas Health System (Health System). This role will collaborate with University and Health System stakeholders to optimize clinical research workforce policy, clinical skills validation processes, and training standards. This role requires an active Kansas Nursing License.
Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the Clinical Research Training program and create training materials related to clinical research.
- Partner with Human Resources and research leadership to standardize clinical research workforce job description templates, access workflows and training validations to support clinical research integration.
- Design and deliver both asynchronous and synchronous training sessions, hands-on learning activities, and evaluation assessments for KU clinical research staff.
- Develop competency training for clinical skills, such as venipuncture, EKGs, pulmonary assessments and other clinical research procedures.
- Ensure all training programs comply with relevant regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with Health System, research leadership, and department administrators to create onboarding guidelines, and processes for training and credentialing validation.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures, policies, and resources for the clinical research workforce and training programs.
- Regularly update training materials to reflect changes in regulations, institutional policy, and industry standards.
- Partner with research departments and Health System stakeholders to navigate research systems access issues across the University and Health System space.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Clinical Research, Healthcare Administration, Education). Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Active Kansas Nursing License.
Work Experience:
- Four (4) years of experience in clinical research or training.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications/Licenses:
- Active multi-state compact nursing license preferred.
- Certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRP/CCRC)
Work Experience:
- Two (2) years of training or curriculum development experience.
- Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) guidelines and Regulations applicable to study implementation and data management as demonstrated by application materials.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
