PURPOSE: Ensures Riley County facilities are maintained in a manner which provides a clean and safe environment for employees and the public. This employee will perform custodial duties and assist in special projects by following verbal and written instructions in compliance with established guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Performs custodial tasks which include sweeping, dusting, mopping, rinsing, stripping and waxing of floors, polishing, vacuuming and spot cleaning of carpet, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash, wiping down walls, cleaning interior windows and cleaning glass entry doors
- Ensures restrooms are cleaned and sanitary by following prescribed cleaning procedures and supplies are replenished.
- Provides regular and predictable attendance and fosters a cooperative work environment.
- Participates in special cleaning projects.
- Meets daily with the Custodial Manager
- Responds to emergency situations such as water leaks, flooding, overflowing restroom fixtures and accidents.
- Reports damage to buildings, furnishings and equipment to the Custodial Manager
- Prepares meetings rooms and outside locations for meetings and special events.
- Assists in policing of paper, glass and miscellaneous waste on the Courthouse Plaza grounds,
- Empties outside trash receptacles and takes trash to dumpster.
- Assists in the removal of snow and ice from the sidewalks by shoveling snow and spreading ice melt.
- Assists with the removal of all recyclable materials from office areas and the transporting of these materials to the local recycle center.
- Attends meetings and training.
- Work overtime as needed, outside of normal work hours, including evenings and weekends
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
