The data manager will also play a key role with Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Institutional Development and Data Coordinating Center (ISPCTN DCOC) in ensuring high-quality data management across multi-site clinical research studies. This position will serve as the primary point of contact between the DCOC and the participating ISPCTN sites for all data-related activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary data management liaison with participating clinical sites.
- Respond to site inquiries and provide timely resolution for data-related issues, including electronic data capture (EDC) access, data entry, and query management.
- Lead the development and maintenance of study-specific data dictionaries and case report forms (CRFs), ensuring alignment with protocol requirements and standardized data elements.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to incorporate feedback and maintain consistency across studies.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and workflows related to data management, EDC use, and site communication.
- Ensure SOPs are current, aligned with best practices, and effectively implemented across the consortium.
- With moderate supervision, develop specific custom reports using Oracle, Tableau, SAS, or Shiny R.
- Create electronic case report forms (eCRFs).
- Participate in internal quality assurance efforts for form development, system performance monitoring, and report testing.
- Develops or "codes" BI Applications to enhance business decision-making capabilities, primarily using Tableau or R.
- Analyze existing databases, reports, and processes for opportunities to automate further or simplify utilizing BI tools.
- Analyze data within various databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) utilizing various SQL-based tools, BI tools, and Reporting Tools to inform business decisions.
- Develop and maintain procedures for deploying R shiny projects as needed.
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata').
- Train pertinent staff and other end-users as needed on BI Applications; and trains other BI Specialists on various BI Tools, including Tableau.
- Troubleshoot user issues with the BI Applications.
- Responsible for reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and the change control documents.
- Attend project meetings with collaborators, with a Biostatistics & Data Science faculty member.
- Prepare reports, manuscripts, and grant applications for investigators with moderate supervision of Biostatistics & Data Science member.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Certifications/Licenses: n/a
Work Experience:
- 3 years of experience with: PL/SQL, SQL functions, triggers, complex queries, SQL reports.
- Experience in relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, and Business Intelligence tools.
- Experience with database migration, database development, database maintenance performance tuning and optimization, and setting up and managing database connections.
- Experience in automation of ETL process between databases.
- Experience in one of these: R, SAS or Python.
- Experience working in a Windows and LINUX/UNIX environment.
- Experience with troubleshooting data-related issues using logical problem-solving methods and process of elimination.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products or equivalent.

- Education: Masters degree in a similar field of study. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Certifications/Licenses:
Work Experience:
- 2 years of experience in academic or private health-related research environments.
- Experience in creating, conducting training and documenting Metadata such as data dictionaries that are utilized for research.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
