SUMMARY:

The Director of Retail Banking is responsible for the overall strategic leadership of the Bank's retail banking center network with a primary focus of driving sales performance along with developing high-performing teams, future leaders and giving an exceptional customer experience. The role will provide oversight of Retail and Business Banking operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and market competitiveness. The Director of Retail Banking will ensure that teams are consistently performing their roles with purpose while delivering on First Federal Bank of Kansas City's mission, vision, values. The role involves cultivating strong community and business relationships and will represent First Federal Bank in the community as a banking leader to enhance the bank's image and market share.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Planning:

  • Direct, oversee, and coordinate all phases of Retail Banking, including service, sales, operations, and the retail banking center network.
  • Develop and implement strategies for Business Banking to drive revenue and maintain a competitive market position.
  • Execute the Retail Banking Business Plan to increase household reach, customer retention, cross-sales, and deposits.
  • Establish and maintain goals, strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with bank objectives and regulatory requirements.

Retail & Business Banking Operations:

  • Lead the development and growth of Business Banking within retail centers by managing customer relationships, retention, and growth opportunities.
  • Oversee loan production and deposit growth across financial centers, ensuring seamless lending operations.
  • Provide lending and loan quality guidance to maintain high standards.
  • Coordinate activities between between banking centers and business lines to drive results.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and training to retail banking center staff.
  • Conduct one-on-one and team coaching sessions to ensure effective training and exceptional customer service.
  • Manage staffing, hiring, job assignments, performance monitoring, coaching, and training.
  • Evaluate performance and make recommendations for compensation, promotions, or terminations.
  • Foster a positive team culture aligned with the bank's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Sales & Relationship Management:

  • Partner with Treasury Management, Merchant Services, and Community Banking to deepen customer relationships.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to current and prospective customers to drive sales and cross-sell bank products and services.
  • Monitor customer engagement, evaluate relationships, and manage referral sources.

Community Engagement & Brand Representation:

  • Promote community development and represent the bank within service areas.
  • Encourage team involvement in community service to enhance bank's visibility and growth.
  • Maintain a professional image and serve as a steward of the bank's reputation and resources.

Industry Awareness & Compliance:

  • Stay informed on financial industry trends and identify opportunities for new products or services.
  • Routinely travel to branches or industry events for operational support, training, or professional development.
  • Comply with all applicable banking laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti-money laundering statutes; and federal consumer protection legislation and regulations.
