What is a Boom Truck Driver?

Our Boom Truck Drivers will be responsible for delivering, setting and welding steel beams and columns in an efficient and timely manner for builders of new construction residential houses using a straight truck with air brakes and a minimum 90’ 23-ton stick boom. Ensure we meet or exceed our customer’s expectations.

Delivering, setting and welding steel beams and columns in an efficient and timely manner for builders of new construction residential houses using a straight truck with air brakes and a minimum 90’ 23-ton stick boom. Ensure we meet or exceed our customer’s expectations.

What can you expect from the job? 

  • On-the-job training
  • $25/hr, with higher pay based on experience
  • 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday 
  • Weekly pay
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical or machinery parts 
  • Moderately stressful and constantly changing work environment 
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of material up to 51lbs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inspect truck before and after each trip
  • Load and unload steel beams and columns on the boom truck
  • Safely operate a boom truck
  • Set beams in place using a straight boom truck crane
  • Cutting and welding beams, columns and other structural material onsite
  • Properly track and document activity log
  • Report any issues or incidents to dispatch
  • Fill out necessary paperwork, daily log report, overage, shortage and damage form, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of tools for assigned truck.
  • Keeping truck, toolboxes clean and organized
