Job Description
Responsible to perform inspections, testing, and quality control processes to ensure that our composite materials and finished products meet the highest industry standards. This role involves leading a team of inspectors, managing the inspection process for composite materials and components, and working closely with engineering and production teams to drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience in composite materials, quality control, and leadership in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the daily activities of the inspection team, including maintaining a daily work schedule.
- Inspect incoming materials, in-process production, and final products.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and aerospace specifications.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102.
- Document inspection results and maintain detailed records.
- Identify, document, and report non-conformances; assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Promote and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues.
- Perform calibration and verification activities on vacuum/pressure gauges, ovens, heated platen presses, etc.
- Calibration process maintenance, including generating and maintaining records and reports.
- Support internal and external audits (e.g., customer, FAA, AS9100, Nadcap, etc.).
- Perform audits on processes and systems to ensure ongoing compliance with AS9100 and other regulatory standards.
- Associate’s degree in a technical field or comparable experience.
- Proven experience in a quality control or technician role, preferably in a manufacturing or composites environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality control principles, techniques, and tools (e.g., visual inspection, statistical analysis, measurement equipment).
- Critical thinking skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and other departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
- Familiarity with composite materials and manufacturing processes.
