Job Description
Job Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services on the most favorable terms for the company. This role qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, negotiates pricing and terms, tracks purchases, monitors vendor performance, and maintains up-to-date vendor records. Additionally, the Buyer resolves issues related to inventory returns, replacements, and credits.
Essential Functions:
- Procure MRO materials by analyzing best overall value.
- Procure raw materials (wire, cable, bar stock, resin, Kanban items) based on best overall value.
- Maintain accurate data for products, vendors, and vendor contracts.
- Maintain inventory levels according to goals set by the Supply Chain Director.
- Process non-conforming materials and RMA requests.
- Manage services and office equipment contracts.
- Ensure suppliers deliver existing supply on time.
- Review packing slips prior to Finance department processing.
- Review and process QDRs.
- Manage shortages with the Master Planner to support customer orders.
- Obtain quotes for cost savings for ongoing parts and tool crib items.
- Maintain MSDS files; keep Doc Trak updated with English and Spanish versions.
- Assist with other purchasing activities as needed.
- Maintain consistent attendance during scheduled work hours.
