Job Story

The faculty member is responsible for carrying out the duties related to teaching, service, and engaging in ongoing professional development in our College of Health Professions simulation and gross anatomy lab. This position will serve as an Assistant Educator providing didactic instruction and evidence-based applied learning experiences to both undergraduate and graduate students. You are expected to maintain a willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery, including online and applied learning, participate in curriculum assessment and development, and work collaboratively with other faculty in teaching and service. Within your role, you will promote the vision and mission, as well as the strategic plans of the University, and the College of Health Professions. Participation in university activities/service at the college, and university levels is also required.

Job Summary

Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To foster applied learning into the course design and engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)

Job Duties

This position is located in the Scientific Foundations Department in the College of Health Professions working in the simulation and gross anatomy lab. The faculty member is responsible for carrying out the duties related to teaching, lab tours, service, and engaging in ongoing professional development. This position will serve as an Assistant Educator providing didactic instruction and evidence-based applied learning experiences to both undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Health Professions simulation and cadaver lab. You are expected to maintain a willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery, including online and applied learning, participate in curriculum assessment and development, and work collaboratively with other faculty in teaching and service. Within your role, you will promote the vision and mission, as well as the strategic plans of the University, and the College of Health Professions. Participation in university activities/service at the college, and university levels is also required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and physiology
  • Cultural competence and demonstrated evidence, understanding and commitment to the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, and their application in the workplace
  • Commitment to interprofessional collaboration
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in health sciences such as; physical therapy, biology, zoology or other science-related area.
  • Simulation and or gross anatomy lab experience
  • Minimum of two years of academic or health-related teaching at the university level
  • Ability to design courses that contain contemporary content and applied learning experiences.
  • Ability to implement evidence-based pedagogical instructional strategies
  • Ability to engage in and contribute to departmental assessment and outcome development

Physical Requirements:

Light Work:  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force to constantly move objects. Light work involves remaining stationary most of the time.

Additional Physical Requirement:

Consistent with working in typical teaching office and laboratory environments. Ability to operate necessary office or classroom equipment and technology.
