We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Representative to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of accounts receivables and maintaining strong relationships with AFI’s policyholders. Core Functions
- Responds to inquiries (written and telephonic) from policyholders and other departments relating to billing statements, balances, and policyholder account balances
- Receives and verifies the accuracy of documents supporting policy and/or membership cancellation. Processes cancellations, to include refunds, according to established procedures
- Reviews system-generated credits or charges for accuracy, preparing action or refund as required
- Utilizes third-party software to initiate EFT account transactions
- Creates and distributes required documentation (both system and hard-copy) relating to completed processing actions
- Ability to be at work regularly and on time
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of customer service experience in an accounting/bookkeeping function (Associate Degree may be substituted for this requirement)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, to include a courteous, confident demeanor and appropriate use of grammar and vocabulary
- A provable track record of assertiveness, dependability, trustworthiness, strong communication skills
- Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Keyboard skills of at least 30 wpm
- Operate 10-key calculator by touch
- Ability to learn to utilize AFI’s database for data access and entry
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel and Word
- Ability to accomplish work according to established priorities and procedures
What professional education requirements do I need to obtain
- Successful completion within 90 days of standardized training in Principles of Insurance, Dwelling Coverages, Homeowner Coverages, and Personal Auto Coverages*
*if incumbent did not have prior experience in a position with this requirement
