Position Description

As a valuable member of our team as an Office Engineer, you will share the same responsibilities as a Project Engineer which includes all routine on-site project administration, scheduling, and engineering. Additionally, you will plan, coordinate, and manage on-site construction engineering activities reporting continuously to the job superintendent and project engineer. The position of the office engineer is used as a training position leading to project engineer.

 

Essential Functions:          

  • Reliable and punctual attendance
  • Assist project engineer in preparation of monthly pay estimates, accumulating all necessary data, recording of quantities, and preparation of required documentation
  • Assist project engineer in the submittal, transmittal, and delivery processes
  • Update project drawings and submittals to current status
  • Prepare construction drawings – dewatering, excavation, form, lift, line, erection, other
  • Process subcontractor/vendor invoices
  • Assist in the setup of the budget
  • Assist Project Engineer in close-out of the job
  • Schedule, expedite, and inspect material deliveries to support project schedule
  • Assist project engineer in developing and updating the project schedule
  • Assist project engineer with buy-out and writing of purchase orders and subcontracts
  • Review work-in-progress to understand scope and possible changes or changed conditions. Discover and resolve interface conflicts between the company and subcontractors

Location:               Wichita, KS

Schedule:              Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

 

Position Requirements

To succeed as a office engineer, an individual must be able to take direction and work with others as a team; follow company safety policies and participate in safety training programs; be able to read and understand construction plans and specifications; and possess knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, expediting, and contract documents as well as estimating, labor, material and cost reports. A desirable office engineer will have a Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management degree from an accredited institution and 2-4 years of practical construction experience.
