Job Description
Operate and troubleshoot the inserter machines with 2D barcode technology, run first-class mail through the sorter machine for best USPS rate, utilize folder for taglines and mailings, and do other supportive jobs as necessary.
What you’ll do
- Operates and troubleshoots all outgoing mail machines (inserters, sorter, folder, AIMS Computer, Netsort, etc.) and software.
- Makes critical decisions regarding the priority of ach mailing and how that impacts our service level agreements (SLA's) and department goals.
- Performs weekly/monthly cleaning, oiling, and maintenance on machines to prevent costly downtime and repairs.
- Communicates with print shop regarding jobs and reprints.
- Creates and submits the electronic postage statement using PostalOne daily to USPS.
- Recognizes and verifies BCBSKS meets the high standards of the USPS to maintain our full-service discount.
- Receives and processes all mail daily.
- Stocks and prepares all materials for each individual mailing.
- Places call to vendor for service on machines.
- Straps letter trays and takes cages to dock for vendor pick-up of USPS mail.
- Back-up for Mail Delivery Specialist
- Other duties and projects as assigned by Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor.
What you need
- High school graduate or its equivalent.
- One year of machine operation experience executing multiple mailing system methods and office mailing equipment.
Bonus if you have
- Knowledge of 2D barcode technology, preferred.
- Knowledge of how to operate computer programs used by the department.
- An understanding of the mechanical function of the Quadient inserter and Apex Sorter is preferred.
