Job Description
Position Overview:
Sunlight Thrift Store Manager oversees the daily operations of a nonprofit thrift store, ensuring positive customer experience while maximizing sales and donations. This role is responsible for staff supervision, inventory management, merchandising, monthly reporting, and maintaining store cleanliness and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management:
- Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and visually appealing.
- Ensure smooth functioning and loss prevention.
- Staff Supervision:
- Hire, train, schedule, and manage store staff.
- Foster a positive team environment and ensure excellent customer service.
- Inventory & Merchandising:
- Manage intake, sorting, pricing, and display of donated items.
- Ensure accurate and timely inventory rotation and stock levels.
- Create attractive merchandising displays and promotional setups.
- Financial Oversight:
- Meet or exceed sales goals through effective management and marketing.
- Process daily sales reports and cash reconciliation.
- Customer and Community Relations:
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve complaints or issues professionally.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, community partners, and customers.
- Promote the store through local outreach, events, and social media that is consistent with Sunlight Children’s Services mission and brand.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and employment laws.
- Train staff on safety procedures and handle incident reports when necessary.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced retail setting with frequent interaction with the public.
- Evenings and weekends may be required.
- Some travel for donation pickups or off-site events may be needed.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to sit, stand, stoop, bend, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to grip, type, and reach.
- Occasionally required to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Occasional driving between program facilities will be required.
