POSITION TITLE: Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Supervisor 

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance 

DIRECT REPORTS: Lead Billing Technician and Medical Billing Technician 

FLSA STATUS: Exempt; regular full-time; employment-at-will position.   

SCHEDULE: The work schedule will generally conform to that of a full-time Monday-Friday 40-hour-per-week schedule to be performed within the Center’s hours of operation.  

PURPOSE:  

The Revenue Cycle Management Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the billing and collections processes. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate billing, claims processing, collections, and revenue reporting. The RCM Supervisor supports compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance regulations and leads the billing team to achieve operational excellence and financial performance benchmarks. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  1. Supervise and support the billing team, ensuring productivity, accuracy, and efficiency in all revenue cycle functions. 
  2. Provide training, performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing support to direct reports. 
  3. Oversee scheduling, task assignments, and workload distribution for billing staff. 
  4. Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, provide education, and encourage collaboration. 

Revenue Cycle Duties: 

  1. Monitor the complete revenue cycle process from patient registration to final payment reconciliation. 
  2. Ensure claims are submitted accurately and in a timely manner to Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurers, and other payers. 
  3. Track and manage denials, rejections, and appeals; work with billers to correct and resubmit claims as needed. 
  4. Maintain current knowledge of payer rules, CCBHC-specific billing requirements, and compliance regulations (e.g., HIPAA). 
  5. Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and finance departments to ensure documentation supports billing compliance. 
  6. Generate and analyze billing reports; identify trends, problem areas, and opportunities for improvement. 
  7. Develop and enforce internal procedures to streamline billing operations and reduce errors or delays. 
  8. Serve as a point of escalation for complex billing or payer issues. 
  9. Support audit preparation, monthly financial close, and other reporting requirements. 

 

Requirements

 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  1. High School Diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred 
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare billing or revenue cycle operations 
  3. At least one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a healthcare setting 
  4. Experience with behavioral health billing strongly preferred 
  5. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and billing systems 
  6. In-depth knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle management practices 
  7. Strong understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance billing processes 
  8. Familiarity with CCBHC billing requirements and behavioral health services 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  1. Remaining stationery, such as standing or sitting, for prolonged periods. 
  2. Frequently moving from one worksite to another to accomplish tasks. 
  3. Lifting, adjusting or moving objects up to 10 pounds in any direction. 
  4. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands or fingers. 
  5. Communicating with others to exchange information 
  6. Ability to focus on computer screens for extended periods of time. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The environment is a typical office environment. While on location, work is generally performed indoors with ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment. This position may require travel to multiple worksites including other offices.

SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION: Salary commensurate with experience and Kanza MHGC salary structure.  

PRIMARY LOCATION: Hiawatha Main Office (with occasional remote or outreach location responsibilities as needed)
