Job Description
Position: Safety ManagerScope of Responsibility:
The Safety Manager at GBA Builders directs, develops, implements, and oversees the general health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures for all construction operations. The Safety Manager ensures GBA Builders stays in full compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations. Conducts periodic safety audits of all ongoing projects. The Safety Manager provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material handling/storage/disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. The Safety Manager develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and incidents and generates required reporting. The Safety Manager implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents or incidents in the workplace.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervise workers and processes for safe execution of construction operations.
• Supervision of multiple on-site Safety Specialists in multiple locations.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to Safety Supervisors/Specialists.
Essential Functions:
• Develop, implement an oversee company programs and policies to ensure safe work environments
• Maintain/update GBA Builders Safety S.O.P. and EHS Program as needed.
• Ensure Site Specific Safety Plans are created/implemented on every site.
• Ensure compliance with all GBA Builders EHS Programs at the project level.
• Ensure?managers?and supervisors have the appropriate?safety equipment?and training.
• Review and approve all incident investigation reports.
• Ensure?safety?and health hazards are corrected, eliminated, or guarded.
• Ensure safety meetings and audits are conducted and documented.
• Stay informed of all the latest rules, regulations, and requirements pertaining to construction safety.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or 10 years construction Safety Experience.
• OSHA 510 required, OSHA 500 preferred
Technical Skills & Abilities:
• Risk Identification and mitigation
• Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis
• Skilled at High-Risk activity permitting
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong oral/written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to walk extensively and climb ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Travel:
• Travel required within the US. 30%
