Job Description
First State Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Specialist – Closer at our Overland Park location. If you have closing experience then you may be a great fit!
40 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The MLS - Closer will perform all duties required of a MLS – Closer by following policies and procedures set forth by First State Bank, including, but not limited to:
- Accurate and complete closing and funding of mortgage loans.
- Loan types include conventional, government, home equity, MHDC, USDA and portfolio.
- Receives file from Mortgage Loan Specialist, reviews it to make sure necessary documents are in the file for closing and reviews the loan origination system for data integrity.
- Maintains an open line of communication with Loan Officer’s and title companies.
- Prepares loan figures and sends to Title Company.
- Once the CD is returned and entered into the system, the final CD is then sent to the Loan Officer’s for approval.
- Prepares mortgage closing documents needing to be executed by the borrower in order to close the loan.
- Ensures all loans are closed in a timely manner and that documentation is true and accurate.
- Obtains required documentation set forth by the Underwriting department to satisfy conditions for closing that were part of the approval process.
- Exchanges funding documents with Title Company once the file is closed and all necessary signed documents are completed.
- Balances the file in preparation for disbursement of all checks and/or wires
- Prepares the loan file for recording.
- Ensures all documents needed for the investor are in the closing file and turned over to the Post-Closing department, Assists the Post Closing department in obtaining any additional documents needed by the investor after closing.
- Complete all required compliance training and complies with the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Act as well as all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- One to two years related experience and/or training required.
