Position: Project Accounting ManagerLocation: Lenexa, KS
Project Accounting Manager
GBA•s companies provide services in the engineering, architecture, and construction industries and have combined revenues of approximately $250 million and 400+ employees in offices located primarily in the Midwest.
GBA•s accounting team has an immediate opening for a Project Accounting Manager to lead our project accounting processes including monitoring and maintenance, revenue recognition and overhead allocations as well as support key accounting areas such as audits and compliance. The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of accounting experience preferably in project accounting. This candidate also should be a team player willing to perform any task/responsibility required and should be analytical, detail-oriented, organized, technically competent, process improvement focused, and have the ability to communicate to varying audiences. The position will report to the Controller and work with all levels of management and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, lead, and coordinate the project accounting and reporting program and strategy as well as team
- Manage the month end project accounting close and reporting processes including coordinating with key project contacts
- Maintain and implement revenue recognition and overhead allocation standards and processes
- Manage project setups, closeouts, and other maintenance and functions for certain companies
- Facilitate development and delivery of project accounting training and resources
- Assist with ERP system administration and implementations
- Assist project managers and coordinators with project maintenance and billing questions and support
- Manage state department of transportation prequalification process
- Coordinate overhead and project audits with external auditors
- Function as the company project accounting, revenue recognition, and overhead expert
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor•s degree in Accounting/Finance
- Experience in the Engineering, Professional Services, or Construction industries considered a plus
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- At least basic understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition, and overhead allocation
- Experience with Deltek VantagePoint, Viewpoint Spectrum, and ComputerEase considered a plus
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with all levels of an organization
- Desire to work in a team environment with a willingness to share knowledge and skills
- Collaborative, analytical, organized, and self-motivated
- Customer oriented, responsive approach
- Comfort working in fast paced situations while maintaining focus on project details and quality reporting.
