Job Description
Job Overview The Track Laborer is responsible for performing general labor duties as part of a team focused on track projects, including construction, maintenance, inspections, and service. This position involves hands-on work to ensure the proper functioning and safety of railroad track systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive spikes into the track structure.
- Move and set cross ties and lengths of steel rail.
- Shovel and distribute stone ballast as needed.
- Adjust and lubricate switches.
- Tighten track bolts to maintain proper track integrity.
- Check track gauge and cross level to ensure safety and compliance.
- Carry track jacks (approximately 40 lbs.) for track adjustments.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
