The Elizabeth Layton Center is hiring Summer Youth Specialists for our summer groups.  These are temporary positions that run from May 27, 2025 – August 8, 2025.  Must be able to start by Monday, May 27, 2025 and be able to work through Friday, August 8, 2025. 

This is a Monday – Friday position located in Paola, KS.

The Elizabeth Layton Center is a growing, private not-for-profit community mental health center serving Franklin and Miami counties in Kansas. ELC provides a variety of outpatient mental health services including individual, family and group therapy; medication management; 24/7 crisis services; and specialized community based/support services for adults with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) and for youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED).

ELC has several temporary Summer Youth Specialist positions available in Paola, KS.  Positions range from 20-35 hours per week, depending upon availability and willingness to take on additional service times. **Some limited opportunity to turn into a permanent position, if desired.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Paid training is provided.  EOE

SUMMARY:  The Youth Specialist will provide supervision and supportive services to youth diagnosed with severe emotional disturbance. The Youth Specialist, through supervision and direction, will assist the youth in developing skills.  When working with youth, the majority of the time will be spent providing individual or psychosocial group services to the youth.  The Youth Specialist through supervision and direction of a licensed and credentialed QMHP, will assist consumers by providing information, education, and training to build knowledge, develop skills, and change attitudes with a goal of increasing the consumer’s independence, productivity, self-determination, integration, and inclusion in the community.  The majority of the Youth Specialist’s time will be spent providing services to consumers in their homes, the center, and other community settings. The position reports directly to the CBS Coordinator.
