Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Greets patients, answers the telephone, takes messages, relays messages and direct communication to the appropriate person, in an appropriate manner.
2. Displays positive customer relation skills. Provides excellent customer service by giving immediate assistance to patients when they arrive. Creates an easy, friendly registration process for the patients.
3. Reconciles patient receipts and cash on hand daily.
4. Accurately collects and maintains required demographic and insurance data during the scheduling and/or registration process. Obtains signatures on required documentation during the registration process.
5. Collects co-payment and/or balance due, prior to services or initiates payment options, per Hospital guidelines.
6. Verifies insurance benefits and ensures required referrals and authorizations have been received for scheduled services.
7. Schedules all new referrals and follows up with patients.
8. Schedules all surgical procedures and obtains the required authorizations.
9. Schedules all outpatient procedures and obtains the required authorizations.
10. Accurately collects required demographic and insurance data on all Advanced Orthopaedics Associates, PA, (AOA) patients and creates a patient hospital account for radiology, obtains signature on required documentation and timely notify the Radiology Tech.
11. Assist in maintaining medical records and processes record requests, according to HIPPA guidelines.
12. Prepares clinic for the next day of business to include, but not limited to: pulling charts, obtaining x-rays, labs and diagnostics for scheduled patients.
13. Assists with training new staff.
14. Assists with the Wound Care Clinic, when needed.
15. Demonstrates knowledge of department responsibilities during emergent alarms and the location of department manuals and policies.
16. Displays enthusiasm, an interest for work and willingness to expand their professional knowledge base. Responsible for retaining and performing any routine
changes in the patient account process, keeping current on any insurance updates or requirements.
17. Performs other duties assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepares various reports, clerical and department duties as needed and requested.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May require constant sitting. Requires occasional standing and walking. Occasionally lists and carries up to 30 lbs. May require pushing and pulling up to 30 lbs. Eye-hand coordination,
and finger and manual dexterity are required. Requires correct hearing and vision to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Some exposure to communicable diseases
and hazardous materials is required. Requires occasional bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping and kneeling. Occasional reaching and overhead work are required. Requires
occasional grasping. Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols. Ability to use office equipment such as computer terminal (PC), typewriter, telephone, copier and fax machine.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily Monday through Friday on a scheduled shift. Weekend work and overtime may be required
