Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The primary objective of the Staff Accountant is to apply principles of accounting to assist with preparation of financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, reconciling accounts, assisting in preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. This position is responsible for supervising traditional accounting functions, asset management and financial reporting. Functions as a supervisor for pull/count team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Directs assigned staff in compliance with all applicable internal policies, procedures, gaming regulations and external agency requirements.
2. Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Inventory Control and General Ledger Accounting.
3. Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations, prepare monthly financial statements.
4. Train employees on software, computer systems and accounting policies and procedures.
5. Prepare Daily Operation Report.
6. Asset management and protection.
7. Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
8. Initiates and maintains communication with subordinates, employees, management, and other departments in facilitating the flow of information throughout the property.
9. Interviews, hires, and trains employees, plans, assigns and directs work, evaluates performance, rewards, and disciplines employees, addresses complaints, and resolves problems.
10. Deals tactfully with guests when handling unexpected situations, finding solutions that ensure customer satisfaction with minimal financial impact on Casino operations.
11. Communicates effectively with co-workers, management and guests.
12. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Other duties as assigned to facilitate the efficiency of Casino operations.
2. Operate as an emergency Pull/Count Team member as required.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
1. Ability to prepare, read, and interpret documents; write reports and correspondence; and speak and communicate effectively with individuals and before groups of people.
2. Ability to compose grammatically correct documents.
3. Ability to verbally communicate using appropriate English standards of language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions applicable to business needs.
LICENSING
Must be able to qualify for any and all licenses or permits required by local, State, Federal and/or Wyandotte Nation law.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
1. Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry 35lbs in emergency situations.
2. Ability to function in a smoking environment.
3. Employee smoking is restricted to outside location and during break times.
4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
5. The noise levels in the work environment are constant.
6. Ascend/descend flights of stairs to access office and break areas throughout work day.
7. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for entirety of shift as required to conduct normal assigned duties.
8. Efficiently function in an environment with blinking/blinding lights.
