Job Description

Duties: Function as a technical specialist in a lead role. Perform engineering and provide technical direction and oversight for electrical distribution planning & relay settings projects up to 34.5kV for various locations throughout the US, including analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layouts necessary to develop required design documents. Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software to perform distribution planning calculations such as short-circuit calculations, load allocation, load flows, coordination studies, and relay settings files. Confer with engineers, clients, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects; manage assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements. Perform quality verifications (QA/QC) for electrical drawings, distribution planning studies and calculations prior to issuing for construction. Provide manhour, schedule, and cost estimates for proposals. Function as the liaison with various clients and design engineers for technical support. Work closely with the design engineers, clients, and project controls to ensure that design information, distribution planning studies and necessary services are available to support the project schedule. Guide and train/mentor Electrical Engineers. Continue to learn, remains current and applies independent knowledge and interpretation about departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures relative to assigned tasks. Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables. Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Review lower-level engineering work or assignments. Oversee the collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Lead smaller production teams and serve as the responsible in charge for a project.  Provide support to business development or pursuit activities. Design a complete project of moderately complex scope within an assigned practice area(s). Assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required.  Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. Expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline and other disciplines and/or functional areas.  No hire / fire authority.  Applicants for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require employer sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (i.e., H1-B visa, TN visa or any other non-immigrant status).
