Job Description
Garmin International seeks a full-timeĀ Team Leader Software EngineeringĀ on our GNSS Platforms Team (Olathe, KS; Multiple Positions). In this role you will be responsible for directing a team of software engineers who evaluate, bring up, integrate, and support the GNSS hardware solutions and infrastructure around them. You will interface with various product teams across Garmin as your team develops features that will be used in wearables, handhelds, cycling computers, Marine products, Consumer Auto devices, etc.
Essential Functions
- Lead a team of low level software engineers with diverse capabilities in the evaluation, bring up, integration and support of GNSS HW solutions
- Coordinate and participate in generating software requirements and designs for GNSS HW solutions in accordance with Garmin's software development methodology
- Engage with vendors and collaborate with them to provide the necessary HW and SW solutions to meet Garmin's needs now and in the future
- Evaluate various design tradeoffs across the low level software and hardware stack as they relate to power consumption, cost, reliability, and time to market
- Collaborate with various product teams to recommend, integrate, and deliver GNSS solutions
- Create product development plans as directed by engineering management
- Work with human resources to address employee relations issues as needed including writing and conducting annual performance evaluations
- Ensure the team meets overall development goals in accordance with the product development plan or market requirements and ensure project milestones are met
- Monitor progress of the software teams in meeting product requirements and schedule compliance
- Directly supervise various levels of software team members by setting the tone for the team environment and providing individualized coaching, training and mentoring
- Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the team
