Job Description
Role Overview:
The Intake Specialist is responsible for completing admission and release paperwork, screening and assessing children, and coordinating with appropriate departments and agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Screen and assess children for victimization through direct dialogue, body reports, and case reviews.
- Coordinate with DCF case workers, law enforcement, Juvenile Intake, and the District Attorney’s office to gather and transfer case information.
- Identify medical concerns and medication status for each child.
- Answer calls, record referral information, and complete all necessary paperwork for incoming admissions.
- Verify and check admission/release information with all relevant departments.
- Collect and distribute medical, psychological, and social information related to the child’s situation.
- Follow up on obtaining medication as needed.
- Confirm release plans with identified agencies and discuss plans with families.
- Provide support across departments and participate in intake on-call rotations.
Expectations:
- Knowledge of signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect, family dynamics, and cultural norms.
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain flexible and adjust to changing needs.
- Ability to interact professionally with families, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Consistently complete tasks, report to work on time, and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
