Successful candidates:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and possess current Kansas License
Familiarity with medical software and equipment
Ability to build rapport with patients
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Three years experience as a registered nurse
- Successful completion of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training and additional didactic and clinical hours related to the domestic violence medico-legal examination.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim.This will include a forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings.The SANE is expected to follow protocols established by the Medical Director in conjunction with the SANE Coordinator.
