Job Description
This is an exciting time to join our HR/Payroll Department as we are in the process of selecting upgraded and updated payroll and timekeeping systems.
The Payroll Technician currently calculates the hourly/biweekly payrolls (nonexempt) and the semi-monthly administrative/salaried (exempt) payrolls.
To be successful in this position, Excellent computer/technology skills are required. HutchCC payroll systems are technology based and our goal is to increase the use of technology while eliminating manual processes.
In addition, superb accuracy and timeliness skills, strong customer service skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and a willingness to assist in all areas of the HR department/cross-training are essential qualities for this employee to possess. The employee in this position may be required to work on a College recognized holiday and occasionally on a weekend.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions –
- Calculate the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll accurately and timely. Payroll exceptions will occur and must be completed timely.
- Process time system information for the bi-weekly payroll and leave request information for the semi-monthly payroll (Submitted through BambooHR).
- Submit and calculate garnishment and income withholding information.
- Complete and submit reports, such as tax deposit information and KPERS reporting, accurately and timely.
- Perform new hire reporting as regulated by the State of Kansas and the IRS.
- Maintain payroll records and new hire onboarding through the electronic system.
- Update sick and vacation balances in the time clock system.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
- Serve actively on campus committees.
- Maintain confidentiality on all payroll and related HR information.
Secondary –
- Assist the Payroll Specialist with the monthly faculty payroll, and with completion and submission of insurance forms, KPERS forms, and other documents.
- Assist in all areas of the Human Resources Office.
- Perform other responsibilities as designated by the Human Resources Director and/or the Payroll Specialist.
