Overview / Job Summary:
The Technology Support Specialist’s I role is to support and maintain computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This person will be responsible for installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware, software and peripheral equipment while ensuring optimal computing performance.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Provides excellent customer service to Faculty, Students and WSU Tech Staff.
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Actively informs fellow technicians of critical issues while providing status reports through the IT Ticketing System.
  • Coordinates, assists and shares knowledge with IT Technicians.
  • Serves as the secondary point of contact and support for lower impact IT systems.
  • Actively assists with IT upgrade and maintenance projects.
WSU Tech is hiring for 2 positions for Technology Support Specialist I. One will be a Daytime shift from 8a-5p and the other will be an Evening shift from 12p-9p.

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience in related field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CompTIA A+ 220-801 and 220-802 Course completion or CompTIA A+ Certifications, required.
  • CompTIA N+ Course enrollment/completion or N+ Certificate, preferred.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of modern computers is required.
  • Minimum of two semesters experience in computer support preferred.

  • Ability to identify user needs and provide technical solutions.
  • Ability to instruct others, both individually and in a group setting.
  • Ability to interact well with a diverse campus population.
  • Excellent organization and customer service skills.
