Job Description:
80% – Design/execute research (data acquisition, analysis, manuscript preparation, presentations, etc.)
+ Conduct theoretical and computational chemistry research on the reactivity of the hydrated electron
+ Computational Methods: ab initio molecular dynamics simulations, development of machine learning, and reaction rate theory and modeling
+ Research: Project design, execution of calculations, data analysis, publishing research results in scientific journals, and presenting research results at scientific meetings

Position Overview:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Kansas seeks to fill a postdoctoral research position in theoretical chemistry, working in the group of Professor Ward Thompson.
STARTING DATE: September 1, 2024 (negotiable)
LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT: Initial appointment is for one year with possibility of renewal annually subject to mutual agreement and continued grant funding.
GENERAL DUTIES: The successful candidate will develop and use molecular simulation techniques to study the reaction dynamics and mechanisms of the hydrated electron.
