About This Role:
The Department of Statistics is seeking applicants for two 9-month instructional positions at the level of Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor with a preferred but flexible start in January 2024. These are non-tenure track positions which will report directly to the Department Head. The teaching load will be 3 courses per semester which may include a mix of courses for undergraduate majors and undergraduate/graduate non-majors as well as a mix of on-campus and online courses. A one-course summer teaching appointment for an additional month of pay is typically available.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • An earned Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, data science or other closely related field on or before the start of the job.
  • At least one year solo teaching experience of statistics or mathematics at the university level in one or more modalities (in-person, online, hybrid)
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to create suitable content for online courses in statistics in collaboration with an instructional designer
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body with diverse mathematical backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in directing undergraduate research
  • Experience in statistical consulting
  • Interest in statistical education and the development of an undergraduate course in sports analytics
  • Ability to contribute the on-going revitalization of the undergraduate program in statistics and data science

Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
