Provides classroom support under the direction and supervision of a licensed staff member, to the instructional program by working with special needs students one-on-one when necessary; following educational and specific behavioral plans; documenting daily activities of students; modeling appropriate behaviors and interactions with student and staff; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending meetings, as scheduled.

● Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software; including the use of Excel spreadsheets and district email.
● Ability to use google drive and google tools.

● Adapts classroom activities, assignments and materials under the direction of the licensed staff member for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
● Attends a variety of meetings (e.g. staff meetings, in-services, workshops, first aid, CPI, emergency procedures, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and conveying information relative to job functions.
● Communicates with a variety of individuals (e.g. supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel, etc.) for the purpose of implementing IEP objectives and assisting in the evaluating progress.

● Documents student’s daily activities (e.g. behavior, completed assignments, on and off task times, etc.) for the purpose of completing daily logs and student’s hourly activities.
● Evaluates situations involving students interacting with others (e.g. staff, students, etc.) for the purpose of taking action and providing referral for resolution.
● Implements behavioral plans designed by IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of reinforcing learning concepts.
● Provides academic support to students (e.g. reading, writing, verbal skills, etc.) for the purpose of implementing IEP goals, assisting in adapting to mainstream classrooms, and ensuring students success.
● Remains with student at all times for the purpose of providing for the safety of student, removing student when necessary, and de-escalating situations outside the classroom.
● Provide support to students who may be physically or verbally aggressive
● Assist students who my need support with toileting and/or feeding
● Maintain required in-service hours
● Works under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others may be required to perform the job’s functions.
● Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
● Regular attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk and hear. Physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials up to 75 lbs., stooping, bending and reaching may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required by the employee. The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
