EKG Technician, Great Bend

Position Summary / Career Interest:Under the supervisor of the department Manager, the technician has responsibilities to performs EKG's holter monitors as ordered by physician, correctly processes all orders and downloads machine on a daily basis, and assist with stress tests. EKG Technicians maintain a cooperative working relationship with patients, families, medical staff, and interdepartmental personnel.
Responsibilities:
Completes patient identification process and requested test(s).
Communicates with members of health care team, patients, and visitors using oral and written means and equipment such as the telephone, call light system, instant messaging services, wireless communication, pneumatic tube station, and intercom.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
Stamps, assembles, completes, and processes patient's charts as indicated.
Keeps patient records accurately identified.
Maintains an accurate clinical record, regarding information per hospital policy.
Transcribes doctors' orders per hospital policy.
Prepares and maintains patient report information, including patient profiles.
Prepares special forms such as consents, permits, and order sets.
Orders unit supplies to maintain inventory of unit's equipment stock and supplies.
Assists with receiving, distributing, and sorting supplies brought to the unit.
Prepares requisitions and reports for maintenance, biomed, and information technology repairs.
Maintains time cards, requested paid time off, and requested on-call time.
Responsible for order entry through the electronic medical record/database.
Maintains an orderly and businesslike environment at all times in the order to assist members of the health care team in the performance of their jobs despite high-stress factors.
Performs specified duties during a hospital wide emergency or specific code announced.
Observes all hospital isolation procedures.
Maintains accurate charging as delegated.
Communicates effectively by accurately relaying information between the customer and associates.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
High school graduate or equivalent.
BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification with in the first two weeks of employment.
Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.
Specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained will be provided by the department director/manager/supervisor at time of hire/transfer into department.
Preferred:
EKG experience.
HIPAA:This position will have access to the following Protected Health Information in order to carry out the duties related to their position based on the following criteria:
Primary - required (routine) to do the job
Secondary - required for the job, but mostly be exception
None - no approved access

Clinical Information (information that describes a patient's health status): Diagnosis, Reports/Medical Notes, Test Results, Problem List, Procedures, History and Physical
Coding Information (clinical information that is in (alpha) numeric format): ICD-9 Codes, Rev Codes, CPT Codes
Infection Control:
Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control.Training's could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
