It takes a special person to become a nurse, but that’s even truer for those who go on to become Pediatric (Peds ED, PICU and/or Peds Inpatient) nurses. These dedicated professionals care for the most fragile patients there are sick and premature newborns. In addition, they are on the front lines when it comes to helping scared parents through what is often a traumatic experience.

About this unit:

  • 12 bed – Peds ED.
  • Active unit Practice Council.
  • Unit consists of Clinical Nurse Coordinator, RN, PCT, Nurse Extern and Child Life Specialist.
  • Voted one of the best Emergency Departments by KC Parent Magazine.
  • Dedicated pediatric ER – immediate care with little to no wait times.
  • All board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric specialists with more than 100 years of combined experience.
  • Flexible schedule – commit to 3 or 6 shifts per 4 week schedule; current needs (days, nights, weekends).
    Responsibilities:
  • Under the general direction of the Director, the RN coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care.
  • Nursing care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, and the generic and unit structure standards. Pediatric patients between birth to 18 years of age.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. BLS (American Heart Association) on hire. PALS, ACLS, and ENPC certifications within 6 months of hire. TNCC certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Minimum one year RN experience required. Previous clinical experience in area of specialty preferred.
    Overland Park Regional Medical Center is one of the premiere medical facilities in Johnson County. The hospital is a licensed 343-bed facility offering acute and outpatient medical care services to the Overland Park community and the surrounding areas since December of 1978.
