The position is responsible for multiple functions including but not limited to planning, designing, implementing and managing the Vets-ICT employment project. The position will be active in the community supporting employers with recruitment, employment, and retention of military service members. A key element of the job will be to effectively align local businesses with transitioning service members, veterans, military spouses, Kansas National Guard and Reserves for in-demand and high skilled careers in the Wichita area. The position will develop and implement a sustainability plan including developing revenue streams for the continued operation of the program after the initial eighteen months of seed money expires.
This position requires skill in collaboration, communication, presentation, and cooperation. The DMES is expected to be creative, innovative and motivational to provide consistent resources from engaged employers. It will be important to utilize the resources of the workforce development community and partner agencies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the initiative. The position will also support other grants or projects that align with this project.
