About This Role:
Kansas State University is hiring for the Director for Cashiers & Student Accounts Division. The Director provides direction and oversight over student financial account services and university depository and banking activities. The position is responsible for ensuring efficient and secure procedures are utilized to carry out business functions while focusing on high-quality customer service. This position is expected to be a leader in the development and implementation of systems used to support the activities under their direction. Strong data analytics skills and strong management skills are utilized daily. The Cashiers & Student Account Division is comprised of 11 employees, and the Director has five direct reports.
  • Manages and provides leadership to staff responsible for accounting and activities associated with daily campus depository activity, student billing, student loan services, and third-party student sponsor billing. Ensure quality and consistent customer service is provided utilizing tools available to ensure campus administrators, students and staff have the information needed for decision making. Identify and coordinate process and improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures related to campus depository, student and third-party sponsor billing, and student loan services. Manage internal controls and internal security procedures related to cash handling and eCommerce activities.
  • Manage university banking relationships. Ensure banking services meet university expectations and manage university staff access to bank accounts. Oversee daily depository remittances and the reconciliation activity associated with daily deposits and transfers to the State of Kansas.
  • Responsible for policies and procedures and management of student debt and university customer debt. Ensure student hold policies and collection practices are followed. Work with leaders in various university units to determine appropriate debt management steps concerning unique facts and circumstances that may be present (enrollment services, colleges, auxiliary operations).
  • Responsible for communicating and collaborating on complex financial situations. Works closely with students, university leadership, and others as needed. This position communicates with diverse populations at an individual and group level.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree
  • Five years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, finance, business, or another closely related field
  • Experience serving as a leader in a complex service orientated organization with experiences directly related to area of expertise that interacts with the business processes
  • University student/customer support service experience
  • Knowledge and experience of data analysis tools and processes
  • Experience with project management to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to collaborate and communicate professionally and courteously with diverse individuals and groups at all levels
  • Computer skills with Microsoft products and knowledge of student finance, imaging, data warehouse, and financial accounting systems (Peoplesoft and Oracle)

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:
$75,500 to $100,000 Annually
