Production Planner and Scheduler
Summary of Position
The Production Planner and Scheduler is responsible for effectively and efficiently coordinating the flow of daily work orders to ensure optimal customer satisfaction throughout Sunshine Metals, Inc. (SMI)
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Production Planner and Scheduler. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
- Schedule job work orders according to machine capabilities and planning.
- Organize the schedule to reduce downtime of machine operations, while meeting all quality standards and shipping commitments.
- Ensure production staff has all information necessary to properly execute jobs as scheduled.
- Coordinate and schedule production in accordance with established policies, principles, and procedures, ensuring maximum productivity output per line.
- Record, track, and report scrap production, overtime needed, on-time execution of jobs, and machine efficiencies (logged time vs. forecasted time).
- Ensure production staff has all information necessary to properly execute jobs as scheduled.
- Prepare job set ups for machine operators.
- Ensure job work orders closed by administration are accurate for stocking material and adding value back to inventory.
- Ensure precision and accuracy of data on tag costs, yield/scrap weight, re-stock value, and hours/time to complete on all work orders before closing the order.
- Collaborate with managers to ensure superior on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain inventory of all shop supplies needed to accomplish work orders.
- Provide management with reports as needed.
- Adhere to Sunshine Metals safety rules, regulations and quality standards.
- Adhere to Sunshine Metals policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Mathematically inclined
- One or more years of experience in production planning
- Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze, track, and maintain accountabilities
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
- Strong work ethic; self-motivated
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in production planning
- One or more years of experience working in metals industry
