Full Time
Summary of Responsibilities
- Teach 3 courses per semester in the undergraduate and graduate social work programs.
- Provide advising and consultation to students.
- Conduct and publish scholarly work.
- Perform relevant departmental, college, university, professional, community outreach and service.
Minimum Education
- MSW degree from a CSWE – accredited social work program.
- Ph.D or DSW in social work from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work, ABD candidates in social work will be considered but the applicant must provide documentation of degree conferral prior to the start date of employment.
Minimum Experience
- A record of successful teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
- Two years of social work professional practice experience. A part-time equivalent of 2 years of full-time practice experience will be considered.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Demonstrated effective teaching (required).
- Demonstrated ability to teach in the core curricula areas of Practice and Policy (required).
- Demonstrated scholarly contributions (required).
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to work with culturally diverse and underrepresented populations as well as a commitment to social justice (required).
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to contribute in the areas of outreach and service to the department, college, university, profession, and community (required).
- Demonstrated ability to teach in the core curricular areas of Research, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and Field Practicum (preferred).
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to seek and secure grant funding (preferred).
- The research expertise of the School has historically evolved around Children and Families,
Peer Victimization and Delinquent Adolescents, Older Adults and Mental Health, Social
Work Education and Pedagogy, Intimate Partner Violence, Spirituality/Mindfulness, and
HIV/AIDS in an International Context. - The School will consider candidates who can complement current research agendas as well
as expand into new areas of inquiry. - Demonstrated willingness and ability to use relevant technologies in teaching, research, curriculum development, and instructional design (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with applied education and the integration of community-based teaching (preferred).
Required Licenses, Certificates & Registrations
State licensure at the MSW level or demonstrated willingness to secure Kansas MSW licensure within two years of appointment.
