Assistant Operations Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Fullmer Cattle is in search of an Assistant Operations Manager for their calf raising ranch in Syracuse KS.  Candidate will work closely with the Chief Operations Manager to manage and lead activities in order to meet productivity and profitability objectives.

  • Have a working knowledge to develop, monitor, and be accountable to the ranch operating and capital expense budgets.

  • Participate and/or head up company-wide improvement projects
  • Work with Upper Management to ensure that required records are maintained to comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory issues (ISO/HACCP, OSHA, etc.)
  •  Ensure that yard activities are carried out in an efficient manner through personal observations and meetings (formal/informal) with appropriate management and employees.

  • Ensure that supervisors and teams are fully engaged with performance goals.

  • Communicate with Chief Operations Manager & Business Manager on current and future capital expenditures, and the development and/or improvement of future and existing feedlot operations and procedures.
  • Act as backup for any of the department managers.
  • Maintain positive relationships with companys customers and outside vendors.

  • Assist Chief Operations Manager with annual initiatives and strategic plans.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is required.

  • College Degree with 2+ years experience OR

  •  5+ years industry experience; a working knowledge of the calf raising industry.

  • 3+ years supervisory experience. Youll work with department managers to improve outcomes, and mentor them to improve their leadership skills in managing teams.

  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills required.

  • Attentive to details for cost management and outcomes
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations as they arrive.

  • Understanding of feed commodities for quality assurance and purchasing.

 

Salary:

Depends upon experience $60,000
