Job Description

What you will do
Johnson Controls’ Wichita operation designs, builds and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year. Johnson Controls Wichita builds and assembles some of the biggest HVAC brands in the industry, including York, Luxaire, Coleman, Champion and Guardian. The primary manufacturing campus sits on 63 acres with a total of 1.3 million square feet. It has also translated into large employment growth in Wichita, where its workforce is around 1,500 employees and we are adding to that number as we continue to see growth in this market. 

Our Production Supervisors in Wichita, KS lead our team performance on the manufacturing floor and are an integral part of our management team at Johnson Controls. As mentioned above, our plant is growing from a $680M to $800M and we need to add enthusiastic leaders that are excited to be part of a transformation that will drive change and enhance our performance and our culture. The Ideal candidate will have excellent planning skills, leadership ability, inclusive style and prior experience. At Johnson Controls, he/she will collaboratively lead, plan and supervise our personnel across our manufacturing departments. Your ability to demonstrate attention to detail will help make sure the Chillers are in compliance with established specification in accordance with scheduled completion dates for the team. 

How you will do it

  • Maintaining production levels at the lowest possible cost by using your expertise in Flow and Lean Manufacturing principles and methods, tooling and manpower to achieve profitability.
  • Ensuring that operations are on an accurate and timely schedule and performed to proper specifications (ASME,UL)
  • Maintains effective working relationships and communications with all departments.
  • Operates within budget and contributes to the overall reduction of overhead and expenses.
  • Complies with EEO and AAP goals as well as strive to have continued improvement on employee development.
  • Collaboratively Lead Plant Production initiatives with inclusive strategizing with your team.
  • Lead by example to promote employee engagement and team work.

What we look for

  • Previous Supervisory or Lead responsibility.

  • High School Diploma or GED


  • Bachelor Degree
  • Knowledge of HVAC design principles, systems or controls is preferred but not required
  • Good oral/written communications skills
  • Computer skills in Microsoft, Excel, Word and Power Point
  • An interest in working 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.
