Join our team and help us grow. We are hiring a Survey Crew Chief in our Kansas City, KS office. We are a Civil Engineering and Survey Consulting firm primarily serving many repeat customers in the KC Metro area. There will be opportunities short term travel assignments. Our projects include; boundary, topographic, ALTA surveys and many forms of construction staking. The Survey Crew Chief is fully experienced and can perform any survey assignment quickly and accurately under the direct supervision of the Survey Project Manager. LSIT certification is a plus, but not required. We do encourage those who are interested in advancing in this profession, and assist staff in achieving that goal.

+ Manage the daily activities of the field crew including health and safety awareness. This includes both field and office time
+ Oversees the condition, security and care of all assigned field equipment including the work vehicle. This includes recommending maintenance, repair and upgrades
+ Establish understanding of the project field component and the deliverable with the Survey Project Manager prior to going to the field
+ Reports on project status to the Survey Project Manager including any unique or potential issues
+ Ensure that the deliverable field information is complete, correct and accurately transferred, including field notes
+ Communicate with the client to clarify and confirm satisfaction with work performed and address any client concerns
+ Understand the importance of meeting project budgets and schedules
+ Utilize appropriate technology on projects. Where necessary provide operational advice and training to field crew members
+ Work from notes, sketches, maps, plans and other material to complete survey tasks with a minimum of supervision
+ Read and understand construction plans with the ability to calculate items requested by contractors in the field to minimize trip cost
+ Ensure BHC RHODES field standards for a project are satisfied
+ Retrieve record data documents, plats, or deeds
+ A high school diploma (or equivalent) with at least 7 years’ survey experience
+ Ability to lead a crew of multiple team members
+ Have an LS or show continued progress towards LS certification
+ Able to bring points into Civil 3D and process codes and line work prior to delivery to the Survey Drafting Technician
+ Valid driver’s license
+ Able to travel for short term travel assignments
+ Physical working requirements:
+ Ability to travel and drive vehicle (including at night)
+ Occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.
+ Able to walk up flights of stairs
+ Able to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
+ Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions
+ Demonstrated proficiency with survey calculations
+ Demonstrated proficiency with BHC RHODES owned field equipment including data collectors, robotic total stations, GPS (RTK and Static), and laser scanners
+ Excellent time management and delegation skills
+ Proven ability to achieve success in completing survey projects by understanding survey precision and accuracy
