Job Description

This position will be located in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday – 12 noon to 8:30 pm.

Any hours worked outside of normal business hours (7 am – 6 pm)will receive shift differential pay.

Travel for this position is Occasional.

Child Welfare Specialist I/II – Hotline

+ Level I – H23A $38,169.32 + Full State Employee Benefits

Your career can make a difference! We’re looking for Child Welfare Specialists to join us and our mission. This is a full time position eligible for full state benefits which include a Healthcare allowance (in addition to your regular salary) a retirement plan, and paid time off. To qualify, applicants must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and reference check.

Level I Child Welfare Specialist – To qualify, the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree (in any field) to qualify

Level II Child Welfare Specialist – To qualify, applicant must have a master’s degree, OR a bachelor’s degree and one year of professional social work experience.

Applicants who possess a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s Degree in Social Work will be entitled to a salary incentive of an additional 5% and 10%, respectively.

This opening is for the Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline, a 24/7/365 operation. This position is responsible for receiving and processing concerns alleging abuse or neglect made by the public to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline.

+ This position requires good listening and communication skills, ability to apply verbal investigative techniques, and thorough knowledge of computer programs.

+ Hotline specialists gather all critical information regarding the allegations and locating information of the alleged victim.

+ The hotline specialist makes a determination if the information reported meets criteria for DHS to conduct a safety analysis.

+ The hotline specialist does not have any direct contact with clients served by DHS.

Job Responsibilities:

+ Position screens and analyzes reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and threats to a child?s safety that are received by the 24-hour statewide Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline.

+ Assists the caller with providing information regarding the alleged child abuse or neglect; interprets what child abuse or neglect is to the reporter; identifies possible child abuse or neglect; and gathers sufficient information to make decisions about the alleged abuse or neglect.

+ Documents and processes reports received at the Hotline in the Child Abuse and Neglect Information System (KIDS); determines if the allegations require an emergency response and notifying district Child Welfare Services (CWS) personnel immediately when an emergency response is necessary.

Preference may be given to candidates who are Bi-lingual.
