Job Description

The Kansas Department of Transportation is currently accepting applications for multiple Equipment Operator Trainees in Greenwood County. Must have valid drivers license with the ability to obtain CDL within 60 days of hire. This CDL position is subject to drug and alcohol testing under the authority of the US Dept of Transportation. The selected candidate will be required to pass a DOT drug test and Physical as a condition of employment in this position. Starting pay $13.63 per hour with state benefits and retirement.

KDOT will provide on-the job training to maintain highways and facilities thru activities such as repairs, resurfacing, mowing, and snow and ice control. Operates KDOT equipment including but not limited to trucks, mowers, rollers, and loaders. Performs physical manual work associated with the maintenance of the highway system. Includes, but not limited to erecting and replacing signs, erecting fence and guardrail, painting, patching, loading or unloading supplies, servicing rest areas, and litter pickup. Services equipment. Receives training in the operation and maintenance of equipment and highway repair methods and procedures.

Minimum Requirements & Duties: Valid Driver’s license & ability to attain a CLD driver’s license.
