Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

Performs chemical analysis on purchased raw materials, in-process preparations, and pure drug substances to determine that they meet official compendial and/or Hospira/Pfizer requirements.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform standard qualitative and quantitative analysis on:purchased raw materials, in-process products, pure drug substances, and contract manufacturing samples utilizingaccepted gravimetric and spectrophotometric procedures, in accordance withapproved testing procedures such as Hospira/Pfizer internal specifications, the National Formulary (NF), the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), the European Pharmacopeia (EP), the Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP), and other regulatory agencies.
  • Utilizes standard analytical chemistry techniques.
  • Prepare and standardize volumetric solutions, test solutions and reagents used in compendia and Hospira/Pfizer monograph analysis.
  • Maintain records of all analysis information of assigned products for permanent file and proper entry of information on laboratory forms.
  • Evaluate all data obtained from analysis; if discrepancy or deviation occurs, consult with supervisor.
  • At times, review completed data for accuracy before forwarding data to QA filing in the batch record.
  • Participate in employee involvement team(s).
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
