ThePerformance & Optimization Engineerrole is a mid-level position on ourASSET360® / Monitoring & Maintenanceteamfor a qualified engineering professional to be based in our Overland Park, Kansas; Ann Arbor, Michigan; or Raleigh, North Carolina offices with a desire to work in the fields of power generation, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and water treatment.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis position provides remote monitoring and diagnostics for industrial owners. The growing mix of power generating facilities and industrial applications are diverse; coal, gas, wind, solar, water treatment, pulp and paper, ammonia, and urea production. The analytical tools leveraged include neural net pattern recognition applications, issue management databases, and custom performance and reliability calculations built on a B&V-developed software platform called ASSET360® . These tools enable engineers of various backgrounds to capture, integrate, and analyze real-time operational data and generate actionable information for our clients. This position provides an exciting opportunity to join the Asset Management Services team with several career track opportunities. The position presents the opportunity to contribute to a client-focused team lead by experienced engineers in delivering solutions to each client’s needs. Each day will present new and exciting opportunities to solve our clients’ most difficult challenges. The professional will diagnose issues and solve challenging problems using Black & Veatch’s ASSET360®data analytics platform. The professional will be exposed to performance calculation engines, heat and mass balances, and advanced pattern recognition models. The professional will lead and contribute to in-depth technical studies. This is a client-facing role with responsibility for client meetings and reporting as well as maintaining and growing client relationships.
Preferred QualificationsPositive, team-first attitude. Supervisory or mentorship experience. 5+ years of related engineering experience in the infrastructure or industrial sectors. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of basic engineering principles with a proactive interest in continued learning. Ability to learn on the fly and use engineering judgment to solve complex problems. Desire to develop industry leading solutions. Relevant work experience in the areas of pulp & paper, refinery, chemical processes, thermal cycles, and data analytics. Knowledge of power or industrial technologies and trends. PE or FE (EIT) with ability/interest in pursuing a PE.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 5 years related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
